This was a really engaging book. I really liked the storyline, as it was unique and interesting and had a different take on mates. Jinx is a Saturian psychic that is forced to work for the government. When numerous attempts are made on his life he makes the decision to purchase a Guardian Beast - a genetically modified being that is imprinted on its master for protection. At the labs, Jinx witnesses guards torturing a large man and is instantly compelled to buy him. From there the story goes from who exactly is this man that Jinx bought, why do the two of them have this deep connection, who wants Jinx dead, and how does this play into a visit to Saturn by the current king. I was really intrigued by how the story was woven together and I honestly can't wait to read the next book in this series. I'm giving my rating at 4.5 stars, mostly because there were several grammatical errors, a couple of instances where names were mixed up, and I felt like the ending was rushed just a bit. I think with a better editing job and maybe a little more content it would definitely be worth a higher rating. However, I certainly don't feel as if it was enough to keep me from thoroughly enjoying this book.
